"COWBOYS AND INDIANS"
It is a great day to be a Texan!!! I am a proud, born and bred Texan hailing from a rural community in North Texas called Nocona. Named after the Comanche chief, Peta Nocona, this small town revolves around the Red River, Chisholm Trail, Nocona Boots, and Nokona Leather Goods. One time the leather goods capital of the world, ranching and western artistry now keep this small, Texas town thriving. Knowing the rich history of “Cowboys and Indians,” one is not surprised that I grew up wearing the orange and black of the Nocona Lady Indians. As a NHS Lady Indian, I was a three sport athlete, achieving state-level status in volleyball and track, a graduate with highest honor, and was heavily involved with all things “Nocona.” One of few in my graduating class to attend college, I started my career as a Midwestern State University Mustang where I studied kinesiology and continued to play three college sports. As a junior, I transferred to Tarleton State University in Stephenville, where I went from a Mustang to a Texan. While enjoying the scenery of the “Cowboy Capital of the World,” I managed to complete three degrees, all with summa cum laude status. While attending graduate school at TSU, Stephenville High School hired me as a coach, teacher, and dance instructor. Trading my Texan duds for the life of a Yellow Jacket, my dance team, the SHS Stingerettes, was internationally known and was regarded as one of the best teams in the state. Always being highly goal-oriented, I left Stephenville knowing I had met and achieved my first career dreams. Following my jaunt as a Yellow Jacket, I moved to Badgerland in Lampasas. Leaving the classroom and becoming invested in counseling and administration, my stay as a Lampasas High School Badger lasted eleven years. During that time, I worked on my licensure as a Private Counselor and enjoyed the camaraderie that a small town lives and breathes. My next move brought me further into the Texas Hill Country to Wimberley. Saddling back up as a Texan, life is good. I have enjoyed the academic, athletic, and fine arts excellence, along with the beauty of this eclectic community. Filled with artisans, musicians, and local celebrity, Wimberley is “right down my alley.” I am proud to wear the red, the white, the navy blue of the Wimberley Texans. I hope to end my educational career as a Wimberley Texan, and will likely return to the rolling hills and pastureland of the Skinner Family Ranch in Montague County, Texas. Being a cowgirl at heart, you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Until then, Go Texans!!!!!!!

School Story:

My memories of growing up in Nocona are wonderful ones....great, vivid memories of school days, Lake Nocona, and the many people that call Nocona "home."
